Since 1947, 10 Pennsylvanians have been awarded the Vercelli
Medal, the highest honor bestowed on a layperson by the Holy
Name Society. Prior to 1970, these awards were given by the National
Director, who was appointed by the
Dominican Order. Since 1970, they have been chosen by the Awards
Committee of the National Association of the Holy Name Society.
