Blessed John Church Windows

.

Liz Farmerie advises that the church which has a stained glass window depicting Blessed John of Verceli [Father John Garbella] is:

Holy Trinity Church, 415 Melrose Avenue, Ambridge PA. Holy Trinity is now "merged" with Good Samaritan Church, 995 Melrose Avenue, Ambridge.

To all our recollections this is the only site known where, at least in America, that a church window depicts Blessed John.

Liz suggests that more info might be gained by contact with Walter Kolakowski who is presently President of Pittsburgh Diocese's Beaver County HNS Deanery. Walter's name etc., is of course in the NAHNS directory.

St Dominic Church, New Orleans, was always cited as the National Shrine of Blessed John of Verceli. However, no documentation of this has been found by the Dominicans who operate the church and they have been asking for info.

.

I suggested contact with Jim Flanagan the good attorney from Metairie Louisiana who was 3rd NAHNS president as he is the only one I know still living with much, if any, historical background of New Orleans HNS activities. [Except possibly as to Aaron Gilyard of New Orleans.] The Dominicans are looking for documentation and not just oral statements and/or "beliefs." I can recall visiting the shrine and talking with the late Joe Livaudais who spoke of concern about how to firmly show the shrine was documented or "legal" but that the Holy Name union kept arguing for such recognition -- that was at one of the national conventions held in New Orleans years ago.
